Chapter I

The Story

Dayton, Ohio, 1918. Charles Kettering built a biplane out of wood, cardboard, and papier-mâché that flew with no one aboard — guided by a gyroscope, a barometer, and a simple counter that told it when to cut the engine. Crude by any modern measure, the Kettering Bug was the first aircraft designed to fly a course on its own. Every unmanned aircraft since traces back to this wooden frame.

The chest wears a small round patch; the back carries the full graphic — the Bug over a globe, framed like a vintage squadron insignia.

Chapter II

Front & Back

Front — A round navy embroidered patch on the left chest — the Bug in top-down silhouette with “Kettering Bug · 1918 · Unmanned” on a cream border.

Back — A large DTF print across the back: the wooden biplane over a vintage globe, with “Kettering Bug · Aerial Torpedo · 1918 · The First Guided Flight” framing.

Chapter III

Fabric & Fit

7.8 oz (260 gsm) fleece in ring-spun combed cotton — heavyweight, brushed soft on the inside, and built to last.

Cut in a comfort fit with a ribbed crewneck, cuffs, and hem. Crewneck sweatshirt in white.

Appendix B

Care

• Machine wash cold, inside out, with like colors
• Do not bleach · do not iron directly on the print
• Tumble dry low or hang dry
• Washing inside out keeps the print crisp
